Transcendence (n) — in metaphysics and in the study of consciousness, a state of existence or perception that is not definable in terms of normal understanding or experience. The term may imply a state that goes beyond conventional conceptions of the natural world.

Solid or Liquid? The creation of this piece was a mesmerizing and almost surreal experience — the blue pools of paint acting like both a liquid and a solid at the same time.

A liquid, with a life of its own, to which I had to relinquish control and succumb to its whims, as it deposited pigment in waves washing over the canvas.

And yet, at the same time, it appeared as if I were sculpting a solid, pushing and pulling the pigments, carving (using a wedge) into the rich blues to reveal the canvas below.
